In recognition of the overwhelming scientific evidence that tobacco use or exposure to secondhand smoke causes serious diseases and is the leading preventable cause of death in the United States, the Ashtabula County District Library has instituted a Smoke and Tobacco-Free Campus Policy.
All Ashtabula County District Library system buildings, grounds, and vehicles are smoke and tobacco free. Tobacco use and smoking in all forms is not permitted in any facility, vehicle, or on property owned by the Ashtabula County District Library system.
Under this policy, tobacco is defined as all tobacco-derived products intended for human consumption including, but not limited to, cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, e-cigarettes, hookah-smoked products, clove cigarettes (kreteks), bidis, and smokeless tobacco (i.e., dip, chew, snus, and snuff).
The purpose of this policy is to provide comfortable, accessible facilities and a welcoming environment at all Ashtabula County District Library system entities.
This policy applies to all persons, including employees, patrons, and visitors to property owned by the Ashtabula County District Library.
